The municipality of Sasmuan in Pampanga has taken a significant step toward improving healthcare access with the inauguration of its Super Health Center in Barangay Santa Lucia. Spearheaded by Mayor Catalina Cabrera, the facility now offers free chest X-rays and laboratory services, bringing crucial diagnostic and preventive care closer to the community.
A Medium-Type Polyclinic for the Community
The Super Health Center is a medium-type polyclinic that bridges the gap between Rural Health Units and full-scale hospitals. Designed to decongest larger hospitals, it offers a wide range of primary care services including medical consultations, diagnostic procedures like X-ray and ultrasound, laboratory tests, birthing facilities, and pharmacy services . The center is part of a nationwide initiative supported by Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, the Department of Health, and local government units, with funding already secured for more than 700 Super Health Centers across the country . This facility provides Sasmuaneños with accessible healthcare services without the need for long and costly travel to provincial hospitals.
A Commitment to Preventive Healthcare
Mayor Catalina Cabrera has been a driving force behind this initiative, working alongside national and provincial partners to bring the facility to Barangay Santa Lucia . The blessing and inauguration ceremony, attended by Senator Bong Go's representative and local officials, marked the official start of operations . This development is part of a broader push to expand healthcare access in Sasmuan, which also includes the recent launch of the country's first floating clinic in Barangay Malusac, offering services such as X-ray, ultrasound, and other medical procedures to coastal communities . The Super Health Center further strengthens the town's healthcare network, ensuring residents can access free diagnostic services early, addressing health issues before they become more serious.
