Quality healthcare from the country's premier state university hospital is now just a short drive away. The UP-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Sports Medicine and Wellness Center in New Clark City is officially offering basic medical and dental services to the public, benefiting thousands of residents in both Tarlac and Pampanga .
The clinic, located within the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City, opens its doors for walk-in consultations, wellness check-ups, pre-employment exams, and physical assessments . For Kapampangans living in the northern towns of Mabalacat, Porac, and Angeles City, this facility provides an alternative to traveling all the way to Metro Manila or to tertiary hospitals in San Fernando.
A Crucial Health Safety Net Amid Rapid Development
The facility serves a diverse and growing population. Athletes training in New Clark City’s world-class sports complex, students from the National Academy of Sports, employees of nearby business locators, and residents from surrounding barangays now have a dedicated healthcare hub . BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang emphasized that the clinic provides "a crucial health safety net" for the community, ensuring that public well-being grows alongside economic development .
The clinic operates in-person consultations every Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with telemedicine options available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM . This flexible setup accommodates busy professionals, student-athletes, and families who may not have the time for traditional clinic visits. The facility builds on UP-PGH's track record in the area — initially used as a polyclinic during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, it was later repurposed by the Capas Municipal Government during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From a Small Clinic to a 200-Bed Hospital
The current clinic is just the beginning. UP-PGH has plans to expand the facility into a 200-bed capacity hospital, along with the development of a dedicated sports medicine facility within the two-hectare site . This expansion will transform New Clark City into a dynamic sports and health hub, capable of handling more complex medical cases and serving a larger population from both Tarlac and Pampanga.
A separate Mega Health Center is also being planned for New Clark City through a partnership between BCDA and the local government of Capas . The Department of Health will fund the infrastructure project, while the Department of Public Works and Highways will oversee bidding and construction. Once completed, the one-hectare medical facility will further expand healthcare coverage in Central Luzon, complementing UP-PGH's services .
For Kapampangans, this means that world-class healthcare is no longer confined to Manila. Whether you're an athlete needing physical therapy, a worker requiring a pre-employment exam, or a parent looking for a wellness check-up for your child, the UP-PGH Sports Medicine and Wellness Center is now ready to serve you.
