The Provincial Government of Pampanga distributed PHP 85 million in barangay subsidies to 425 local captains on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, under the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program. Led by Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda, the initiative aids scholars and funds municipal development projects across the province.
PHP 200,000 Per Barangay: A Boost for Education and Community Projects
The Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program is a national initiative spearheaded by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that provides direct financial assistance to barangays nationwide . During his visit to Pampanga on May 14, 2026, President Marcos turned over PHP 101 million in Local Government Support Fund to the province . Under the program, each of Pampanga's 505 barangays receives PHP 200,000, with clear directives on how the funds should be allocated . This distribution builds on the earlier rollout for 58 barangays from Sta. Rita, Sta. Ana, Apalit, Minalin, and Sto. Tomas on June 22, which served as the first wave of the program in the province.
Transparency and Accountability at the Core
The PHP 200,000 subsidy is explicitly divided into two main components: PHP 100,000 is allocated for the Educational Subsidy, providing college scholarships to five students per barangay (PHP 20,000 per scholar), while the remaining PHP 100,000 is dedicated to the Development Fund, financing barangay-identified projects to improve local programs and services . Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda assured the public that all distributed funds will be audited to guarantee they reach the correct beneficiaries and are used for their designated purposes . This follows the program's design, which empowers barangay officials to identify students at risk of dropping out and community projects that address their most pressing needs . With 425 barangays receiving their subsidies in this latest batch, only 17 barangays have yet to comply with the necessary requirements to claim their funds.
