MAKATI CITY — The Barangay Tejeros Health Center continues to play a vital role in providing accessible healthcare services to residents, attending to an average of 140 patients each day. Approximately 80 patients are seen during the morning schedule, while around 60 receive care in the afternoon. Operated by the Makati City government, the facility is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, delivering a wide range of medical services to the community.
Free Healthcare and Medicine Assistance
One of the center’s most valuable programs is its free medicine assistance initiative. Prescriptions issued by the health center are fulfilled through a local government program, allowing residents to receive their medications at no cost. The initiative has provided significant relief to patients managing long-term illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes, who require regular medication to maintain their health. Health workers consistently reassure patients that the facility’s services remain free, often emphasizing, “Libre lahat.” These services are available not only to Yellow Card holders under Makati’s healthcare program but also to residents who do not possess healthcare cards.
Comprehensive Medical Services
The health center offers a broad range of healthcare programs and treatments, including family planning services, vaccination programs, dental care, nutrition services, and treatment for chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. To support accurate diagnosis and treatment, the facility is also equipped with a GeneXpert machine, an important diagnostic tool used to help confirm tuberculosis cases and determine the appropriate course of treatment. The center is staffed by six nurses and two doctors, ensuring that patients receive proper and timely medical attention throughout the day.
Prioritizing Vulnerable Sectors
The facility also places special emphasis on caring for elderly residents by providing dedicated consultations and healthcare services tailored to their specific medical needs. Designed to be inclusive, the health center serves all patients regardless of economic status or healthcare card membership.
Continued Support from the City Government
To further strengthen healthcare delivery, the Makati City government continues to provide additional financial assistance to the health center. This ongoing support helps sustain operations, improve equipment and facilities, and enhance the overall quality of care available to residents.
