BOHOL — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has launched a new provincial office in Bohol, fulfilling its commitment to bring government services closer to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families. The office is located at the Old Capitol Building.
A Long-Awaited Development for Bohol's Modern-Day Heroes
For years, Boholano OFWs had to travel to Cebu City to access essential services and process documents with the DMW. The journey was not only costly but also time-consuming, adding another layer of difficulty to their already challenging lives. The new office eliminates this burden entirely.
Now, OFWs and their families can simply visit the office in the heart of Tagbilaran City. The DMW Regional Office VII (DMW 7) emphasized that this initiative is part of its ongoing effort to provide faster and more efficient services. This move is a significant step in recognizing the immense contributions of the country's modern-day heroes.
A Hub of Hope and Efficient Service
The new provincial office is designed to be a one-stop center for a wide array of programs. Returning OFWs can seek guidance on livelihood programs and financial assistance to help them start anew back home. Those with ongoing concerns abroad can access legal assistance and welfare services.
The office will also serve as a central point for families to raise concerns and request support. Psychosocial counseling, skills training, and reintegration programs are among the key services available. This localized hub ensures that comprehensive government care is now within everyone’s reach.
Empowering Communities Through Accessibility
The establishment of the Bohol office aligns with the DMW’s nationwide push to standardize and modernize its services. Secretary Hans Cacdac has previously stressed the agency's role as the primary first responder for OFWs and their families. This new office embodies that principle in action.
By embedding itself directly in the province, the DMW is empowering the local community. The office also facilitates anti-illegal recruitment campaigns and orientations on legal migration pathways. It stands as a testament to the government’s dedication to protecting the welfare of every Boholano OFW.
