According to Agoda’s 2026 Travel Outlook Report, the Philippines has become a leading force in Asia’s "Bleisure" boom, with a staggering 95% of Filipino travelers now planning to extend business trips for personal leisure.
The travel landscape in 2026 is witnessing a fundamental transformation, and the Philippines is at the very center of it. According to the newly released Agoda 2026 Travel Outlook Report, the concept of "Bleisure" (business + leisure) has evolved from a niche trend into a dominant travel behavior across the Asia-Pacific. While the region-wide average shows that 76% of business travelers plan to combine work with play, the Philippines is leading the pack with an incredible 95% of Filipino respondents stating they intend to add leisure days to their professional itineraries. This puts the Philippines ahead of traditionally strong markets like Thailand (92%) and Vietnam (86%), signaling a massive economic opportunity for the local hospitality sector.
Manila has specifically emerged as a premier "Work-from-Hotel" (WFH) hotspot, joining the ranks of iconic cities like Bangkok, Tokyo, and Seoul. The report highlights Manila’s unique ability to offer a "dynamic business environment" alongside rich cultural experiences. Travelers are increasingly choosing to wrap up their meetings in the high-tech corridors of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) before spending their extended stay exploring the historic Intramuros district or catching the world-famous sunset at Manila Bay. Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern noted that professionals are now "intentionally extending" their trips to immerse themselves in local culture, a shift that is driving the global bleisure market toward a projected $1.71 trillion valuation by 2032.
Beyond the major city centers, the 2026 report also highlights a "secondary city surge," where searches for accommodation in non-traditional hubs are growing 15% faster than in major hotspots. In the Philippines, this means travelers are looking for "authentic and immersive" stays in provinces that offer better value and a sense of discovery. With Agoda now offering over 6 million holiday properties and 300,000 activities, the focus for 2026 is clear: providing a seamless, tech-driven platform that allows travelers to book their business flights and their weekend island-hopping tours in a single, high-value transaction. As the Philippines continues to strengthen its infrastructure and digital visibility, it is well-positioned to remain a top-tier engine of travel growth in Asia.
