The 201-hectare Filinvest Mimosa Plus township in Clark now boasts a permanent cultural landmark with the unveiling of Mebuyan’s Cloud, a monumental metal sculpture by renowned Filipino contemporary artist Leeroy New . The artwork transforms The Creative Park into an immersive cultural destination where mythology and modern community life converge.
Art Meets Mythology in Clark's Newest Cultural Landmark
The installation draws inspiration from Mebuyan, a significant figure in Bagobo and Manobo traditions associated with fertility and the underworld . Unlike New's earlier temporary works in the Mebuyan series, this iteration is constructed entirely from metal, marking a deliberate shift toward permanence and establishing the myth as a present-day experience . The sculpture is designed to be interactive and immersive, with suspended, interconnected elements that create pathways for visitors to move through rather than observe from a distance . This interactive quality fosters a connection that is not mediated by a screen but shaped by proximity and movement, reintroducing Filipino cultural narratives into the collective community experience.
A Collaborative Vision for Community and Culture
The formal unveiling on June 24, 2026, was led by Don Ubaldo, First Vice President and Head of Filinvest Townships, and attended by CDC Vice President Atty. Noelle Mina D. Meneses, the artist Leeroy New, and members of the local creative sector . Ubaldo noted, "We see our parks as engaging third spaces where people can gather and connect in meaningful ways. With Mebuyan’s Cloud, we are proud to bring in elements of Filipino culture through a permanent public artwork that people can experience up close" . This project adds to the growing list of attractions at The Creative Park, which also features community initiatives like The Bookstop Project . Mebuyan’s Cloud is open to the public daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, inviting everyone to engage with this groundbreaking piece of public art.
