MAKATI CITY — Two major hotel openings are reshaping Makati's skyline and redefining the city's luxury hospitality landscape. On one side, Mandarin Oriental returns after a 12‑year hiatus with a 275‑room property rising above Ayala Triangle Gardens. On the other, Canopy by Hilton brings a 400‑room lifestyle‑driven stay to the One Ayala development. Together, they represent two distinct visions of modern luxury, one rooted in timeless sophistication, the other in neighborhood‑centric vibrancy.
Mandarin Oriental: A Return to Timeless Luxury
Set to open on December 2026, Mandarin Oriental Makati marks the brand's return to the city where it operated from 1976 to 2014. The 275‑room property occupies one of Makati's most prominent addresses, rising above Ayala Triangle Gardens in partnership with Ayala Land. Entry‑level Deluxe Rooms begin at 50 square meters, featuring panoramic city and park views, walk‑in wardrobes, and separate bath and shower areas. The hotel will offer five dining and bar concepts, an 800‑square‑meter spa, and a 740‑square‑meter Grand Hall that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.
Canopy by Hilton: A Fresh Perspective on Hospitality
Canopy by Hilton, set to open in 2026 at the One Ayala development, brings a lifestyle‑driven, neighborhood‑focused concept to Makati. The 24‑story, 400‑room property is the brand's debut in the Philippines and will feature a rooftop bar with skyline views and a destination restaurant. A hidden speakeasy, pool deck, and high‑performance gym complete the offering, along with flexible meeting spaces. Hilton and Ayala Land Hospitality executives have emphasized that the brand's locally inspired design and fresh perspective will resonate with both local and international guests.
Two Visions, One City
Mandarin Oriental offers classic luxury steeped in history and Filipino craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from the energy of the city and the warmth of Filipino hospitality. Canopy by Hilton brings a modern, neighborhood‑focused experience designed for the contemporary traveler seeking authentic, locally connected stays. Both hotels are part of a broader hotel supply expansion in Makati, with the Bay Area and Makati CBD accounting for more than two‑thirds of new supply in 2026. Together, they strengthen Makati's position as a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers, offering something for every kind of guest.
