MAKATI CITY — With growing numbers of Filipinos drawn to Taiwan’s vibrant night markets, scenic railway journeys, and year-round cultural festivals, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) is strengthening its engagement with the Philippine market through a two-city tourism workshop series. To support this initiative, the TTA is bringing together a delegation of 53 representatives from 28 organizations, including airlines, local government units, theme parks, and travel agencies, to foster stronger partnerships and encourage more Filipinos to visit Taiwan.
Taiwan Travel Fair Brings the Island’s Attractions to Makati
The campaign begins with the Taiwan Travel Fair, scheduled from June 12 to 14 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati. Inspired by the tourism brand campaign “Taiwan – Waves of Wonder,” the event will feature immersive displays showcasing some of Taiwan’s most recognizable attractions, including the Alishan Forest Railway and vibrant neon-lit street scenes. Visitors can enjoy authentic Taiwanese experiences through brown sugar bubble tea tastings, traditional Dragon Boat Festival sachet-making activities, and live performances by the internationally acclaimed Diabolo Walker troupe. The fair will also include energetic Zumba sessions, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees.
Industry Workshops Aim to Strengthen Travel Partnerships
To deepen collaboration with the Philippine travel sector, the Taiwanese delegation will conduct two B2B Taiwan Tourism Workshops. The first will take place on June 15 at Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City, while the second is scheduled for June 17 at Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu in Cebu City. More than 250 participants are expected to attend, including representatives from travel agencies, airlines, and media organizations. The workshops will feature destination presentations, tourism market updates, and business-matching activities designed to help industry stakeholders create themed tour packages and enhanced travel experiences specifically tailored to Filipino travelers.
Filipino Arrivals to Taiwan Continue to Surge
The workshops come amid strong growth in travel demand from the Philippines. Between January and March 2026, Taiwan welcomed more than 210,000 Filipino visitors, representing a 43-percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This performance positioned the Philippines as Taiwan’s leading source market among Southeast Asian countries. A significant driver of this growth is the Free Independent Traveler (FIT) segment, which now accounts for 66.2 percent of Filipino arrivals. These travelers typically seek personalized experiences focused on cultural immersion, local cuisine, scenic destinations, and unique festivals.
Expanding Opportunities Through Tourism Cooperation
With a youthful population averaging 26 years old, an expanding middle class, and the continued availability of visa-free entry, the Philippines remains a high-potential outbound tourism market for Taiwan. Through its Makati and Cebu initiatives, the TTA aims to encourage deeper industry cooperation, support improved air connectivity, and further strengthen Taiwan’s presence among Filipino travelers. The workshops also provide valuable opportunities for travel professionals and media representatives to explore new partnerships and contribute to the continued growth of travel between the two destinations.
