Cebu — Often hailed as Cebu’s very own version of Palawan, the Bojo River Cruise in Aloguinsan is an internationally recognized, community-driven ecotourism destination that invites travelers to reconnect with nature. This 1.4-kilometer river journey takes guests through vibrant, emerald waters flanked by massive, lush mangrove forests. The tour offers a unique experience, culminating at the serene river mouth where the fresh water of the Bojo River gracefully meets the open sea of the Tañon Strait.

Planning Your Voyage and Tide Schedules

The river is open to the public daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with standard paddling cruises typically lasting between 45 to 60 minutes. A crucial tip for any visitor is that the cruise operates strictly according to high tide schedules to ensure there is enough water for the boats to navigate. Because the tides change daily, it is essential to coordinate directly with the local tourism office or book your trip in advance to avoid disappointment. By planning ahead, you ensure that your visit aligns perfectly with the water levels, allowing you to fully enjoy the tranquility of the river ecosystem.

    Tour Packages and Local Experiences

Visitors can choose from a range of tour options, starting with a basic walk-in rate of ₱400 per person, which includes the traditional boat ride (baroto), a life jacket, a local guide, and a chance to swim at the scenic river mouth. For those seeking a deeper cultural experience, the Full Eco-Cultural Package—priced between ₱650 and ₱850 per person—offers a welcome drink, a traditional lunch buffet, snacks, and a demonstration of local handicrafts. This package requires a minimum of six guests and at least two days of advance booking to coordinate the community-led activities. Additionally, those interested in marine life can opt for a glass-bottom boat upgrade at the river mouth for an extra ₱200 per person, providing a clear view of the underwater coral formations.

    Journeying to Aloguinsan

Aloguinsan is located on the southwestern coast of Cebu, approximately a 3-hour journey from the city center. If you are traveling by bus, head to the Cebu South Bus Terminal and board a minibus bound for Pinamungajan or Aloguinsan, asking to be dropped off at the town proper or The Farmhouse to hire a local motorcycle taxi (habal-habal) for the final stretch. For those traveling by private vehicle, searching for "Bojo River Aloguinsan" in navigation apps will lead you directly to the site, where paid on-site parking is available. Many travelers choose to combine their river adventure with a visit to the nearby Hermit’s Cove, a pristine white-sand beach tucked beneath coastal cliffs that is accessible for an entry fee of ₱100.
