TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Provincial Government of Bohol invites music lovers and heritage travelers to an evening of choral tribute that will bring the historic Sandugo legacy to life. On July 22, 2026, Koro Seraphim will perform “Panagbunyi: The Sandugo Legacy” at the National Museum of the Philippines–Bohol, offering a moving celebration of friendship and culture through music.

A Musical Tribute to the Blood Compact

The concert draws its name from “Panagbunyi,” a Visayan word that evokes celebration and honor. Every note sung inside the museum will echo the spirit of the 1565 blood compact between Datu Sikatuna and Miguel López de Legazpi. The performance is designed to transport the audience back to that historic moment of unity and diplomacy.

Set against the elegant halls of the National Museum, the evening promises a rare fusion of visual heritage and live music. The museum itself houses artifacts that tell Bohol’s story, making it the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful tribute. Guests will experience history not through textbooks but through soaring harmonies and heartfelt lyrics.

The Voices Behind the Music

Koro Seraphim, the acclaimed liturgical chorale from Tagbilaran City, will carry the evening with their signature blend of precision and emotion. The group has earned national recognition, including an Honorable Mention at the prestigious National Music Competitions for Young Artists. Their second‑place finish at the Kultura Sinirangan Kanta Binisayá Choral Competition cemented their reputation as champions of Visayan musical heritage.

Composed of dedicated students and young professionals, Koro Seraphim regularly serves at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral. Their deep commitment to amplifying local culture makes them the ideal ensemble for this event. For the audience, their performance will be more than a concert—it will be an immersion into the soul of Boholano artistry.

A Key Event in the Sandugo Festival

Panagbunyi is among the highlight events of the Sandugo sa Bohol 2026 festival, a two‑month celebration that showcases the province’s culture, sports, and eco‑tourism. This year’s festival launched in Talibon for the first time, spreading its economic benefits across the island. The festival’s eight thematic streams ensure that there is something for every visitor.

The concert aligns with the “Bantawan” stream, which lights up creative stages with theater, music, dance, and spoken word. By placing a choral performance in a national museum, organizers are elevating both the art form and the venue. Tourists who attend will leave with a deeper appreciation of Bohol’s rich intangible heritage.

An Invitation to All

Tickets are priced at ₱500 for regular guests and ₱300 for students, with limited slots available for the student rate. Early reservation is strongly encouraged to secure a seat for this one‑night‑only performance. The organizers have made the booking process simple through an online ticket form.

Whether you are a long‑time resident or a first‑time visitor, the concert offers a unique way to experience Bohol’s UNESCO Global Geopark beyond its natural wonders. It is an opportunity to witness how the province keeps its history alive through the talents of its young artists. The evening promises to be a stirring reminder that in Bohol, heritage is always in harmony.
