Bohol — Local officials celebrated the groundbreaking of Grand Summit Bohol, a world-class beachfront hotel in Barangay Doljo, Panglao, on May 20, 2026. The project by Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR) signals robust investor confidence in the province's tourism future.
A Milestone Investment for Panglao
Gov. Aris Aumentado described the project as a strong vote of confidence in Bohol's readiness to host world-class developments. He highlighted the province's natural wonders, rich cultural heritage, and the resilience of the Boholano people as key draws.
The hotel is expected to generate jobs, boost economic activity, and enhance the municipality's reputation as a prime tourist destination. Aumentado emphasized that the groundbreaking translates to more opportunities for local communities and small businesses.
Panglao Mayor Edgardo Arcay welcomed the investment as another milestone for progress. He stressed the importance of balancing development with environmental protection, urging stakeholders to preserve the seas, reefs, and natural surroundings for future generations.
A World-Class Beachfront Destination
Grand Summit Bohol will rise on a 7,737-square-meter prime beachfront property, approximately 20 minutes from the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. The hotel will feature over 200 guest rooms and suites, each with a balcony and ocean or pool views.
Guests can expect dining outlets, a grand ballroom, meeting rooms, wellness amenities, and a self-check-in kiosk. The architecture will showcase an ocean wave-inspired façade, with solar power and smart technology integrated throughout the property.
RHR Senior Vice President Barun Jolly said the hotel bridges global hospitality standards with Bohol's local identity. He expressed confidence that Bohol, already famous for the Chocolate Hills and pristine shores, will also become known for heartfelt Filipino hospitality.
Supporting Tourism Growth and Community Development
RLC President and CEO Mybelle Aragon-Gobio emphasized that the development aligns with the Department of Tourism's vision of diversifying travel experiences in the Philippines. The hotel aims to attract both leisure travelers and the growing MICE market.
The project is part of RHR's broader expansion, which aims to grow from 30 to 37 properties by 2030. Aragon-Gobio reaffirmed the company's commitment to creating meaningful employment and supporting small businesses across the province.
With its UNESCO Global Geopark status and expanding airport capacity, Bohol continues to draw international interest. Grand Summit Bohol, set to open in 2028, promises to further cement Panglao's position as a premier island destination.
