TAGUIG CITY – Good news for travelers planning to visit Bonifacio Global City and Taguig’s vibrant dining, shopping, and entertainment hubs: the city recorded one of the lowest index crimes in Metro Manila for the first quarter of 2026.
This was announced in the recent Joint Metro Manila Council and Regional Development Council meeting. Data presented in the meeting showed that the city of Taguig recorded only 30 index crime cases from January 1 to March 24, 2026. This was a big drop from the 92 index crime cases recorded in the same period in 2025.
This significant drop in the number of index crime cases in the city of Taguig was credited to the efforts of the Taguig Police under the leadership of Colonel Julius Añonuevo. The reduction in the incidence of crimes in the city, according to Colonel Añonuevo, was due to the coordination of the police with the barangay officials and security managers in the city. The presence of police in the streets also contributed to the reduction in crimes, as they were seen patrolling even at night.
Intelligence operations were also credited for the drop in the number of crime incidents in the city. The police used a cloud-based rogue gallery in conducting intelligence operations. The police operations were successful in preventing crime incidents in the city. The police operations in the city were successful in hotspot locations. These hotspot locations were the usual places visited by tourists.
Colonel Añonuevo also acknowledged the strong support of Taguig City Mayor Ma. Laarni Cayetano, noting that the city government’s guidance has helped sustain focused police operations.
A crime-free atmosphere for tourists is just an added bonus to make everything feel more secure, whether it’s an evening stroll at Bonifacio High Street, an evening meal at Uptown, or visiting various places and hotels. Taguig is getting safer, and safety is what keeps it at the top of your list for both business and pleasure trips.
