MAKATI CITY — Hundreds of applicants carrying resumes and searching for better opportunities gathered at the Ayala Malls Circuit Activity Center last May 1, 2026, for the Mega Job Fair organized by the Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in celebration of the 124th Labor Day. For many attendees, the event represented more than simply finding employment. It became a chance to start over, improve their lives, and secure a more stable future for their families.
A Joint Effort to Expand Employment Opportunities
The large-scale job fair was made possible through the collaboration of government agencies, private companies, and media partners. Among those involved were the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), DZXL News, and Ayala Malls Circuit. Their partnership provided job seekers with access to a wide variety of career opportunities, including both local and overseas positions. The participation of Councilor Joel Ariones and Christopher Navarra also highlighted the city government’s continued commitment to employment generation and inclusive economic development.
Faster Hiring Through On-the-Spot Interviews
One of the biggest highlights of the event was its on-the-spot hiring process. More than 400 pre-registered applicants, together with walk-in participants from Makati and nearby cities, were given the opportunity to directly meet employers and attend interviews during the fair.
The streamlined setup reduced the usual waiting time, travel expenses, and lengthy procedures often associated with job hunting. Several applicants reportedly received immediate job offers before the event concluded, making the experience both practical and encouraging for fresh graduates and experienced workers alike.
Beyond Labor Day: A Continuing Commitment
City officials described the Mega Job Fair as part of Makati’s broader effort to strengthen workforce readiness and create more employment opportunities throughout the year. Aside from Labor Day activities, the city’s PESO office regularly organizes career counseling sessions, job matching programs, and skills training initiatives to help residents improve their chances of employment. By directly connecting companies with job seekers, the city government aims to build a stronger and more resilient workforce while promoting economic growth within the community.
