MAKATI CITY — For three days in May, the World Trade Center Metro Manila served as the center of Filipino food innovation as IFEX Philippines 2026 brought together local and international industry leaders under the theme “Tropical Flavors for the World.” Held from May 21 to 23, the 19th edition of the country’s largest export-oriented food trade show highlighted premium Filipino food products and export-ready innovations aimed at the global market. The event gathered exporters, international buyers, and food industry stakeholders to explore Philippine-made products, ingredients, and culinary innovations designed for international trade. More than 500 exhibitors and 100 international brands participated, while approximately 10,000 buyers and visitors from over 50 countries attended the event.

Celebrating Filipino Culinary Excellence

Food personalities Abi Marquez and Miggy Moreno were among the featured guests, attracting visitors eager to discover both culinary trends and business opportunities. In addition to celebrity appearances, IFEX Philippines 2026 introduced several new features aimed at strengthening its international presence. The exhibition floor was divided into specialized sections, including the FOOD Philippines Trade Hall, regional pavilions showcasing heritage crops, a Business Solutions Zone, and an International Hall featuring foreign exhibitors. A Marketplace section also gave attendees the chance to purchase selected food products directly from exhibitors, adding an interactive retail experience to the trade event.

Expanding Opportunities for Filipino

Producers The event provided Filipino food producers with a valuable opportunity to connect with international buyers, distributors, and investors. Small-scale farmers, artisanal food makers, and major exporters alike showcased their products to a global audience. “We are not just navigating global challenges; we are defining the flavor profile of the future,” said Leah Pulido Ocampo, Executive Director of Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). She noted that with the Philippines serving as ASEAN chair in 2026, IFEX Philippines also serves as a platform to position the country as a regional center for food innovation and trade. In 2025, the event generated around 80 million dollars in export sales and contributed to more than 740 million dollars in potential export deals through CITEM’s trade initiatives.

Supporting the Makati-Pasay

Tourism Corridor Although the World Trade Center Metro Manila is located along the boundary of Pasay and Manila, its proximity to Makati makes the event highly accessible to the city’s business and tourism sectors. IFEX attracts thousands of visitors to the area, benefiting nearby hotels, restaurants, and transportation services in Makati. The event also strengthens the Makati-Pasay corridor’s reputation as a major destination for international trade exhibitions and culinary tourism. For attendees, IFEX Philippines 2026 provided a unique opportunity to discover and experience Filipino food innovations before they reach global markets.
