A Lifeline for Tanza's Fishing Communities
On June 11, 2026, members of the Kalipunang Mangingisda ng Julugan III (KALMADA 3) and the Samahan ng Mandaragat ng Julugan VI received boats, gasoline engines, and racer propellers as part of the livelihood packages from DOLE under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program . This initiative targets marginalized coastal workers, providing them with proper equipment for safer and more efficient fishing operations that directly improve their daily productivity and income.
DOLE Cavite Provincial Director Marivic Martinez encouraged the beneficiary-fisherfolk to maximize the assistance they received. She emphasized that the awarding marks another step in improving the well-being of local fisherfolk by providing them with opportunities to strengthen their livelihood and create sustainable income-generating opportunities . She also noted that the assistance serves as an investment in a more stable and prosperous future for their families and communities.
DOLE's Kabuhayan Program: Building Resilient Communities
The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, also known as the Kabuhayan Program, is a flagship project that provides livelihood grants to marginalized, vulnerable, and displaced workers . With a budget of P2.6 billion for 2026, the program enables communities to start or improve their own enterprises, ranging from fishing equipment provision to small business starter kits . In Tanza, the assistance ensures fisherfolk have the necessary resources to sustain their fishing operations and generate additional income.
Beyond this specific assistance, DOLE's broader efforts include emergency employment through TUPAD and various livelihood starter kits for different sectors. The success of this program in Tanza reflects the government's commitment to uplifting coastal communities and fostering economic resilience, proving that targeted support can create lasting positive change for Filipino families.
