Bukidnon State University (BukSU) brought its faculty and staff together through a Pickleball Wellness Day held at the university gymnasium on June 24, 2026. Organized by the Culture, Arts, Sports, and Development Unit (CASDevU), the event encouraged employees to stay active, reduce stress, and build stronger connections through one of the world's fastest-growing sports.
The wellness activity welcomed both beginner and intermediate players, giving employees from different offices, campuses, and departments the chance to learn and enjoy pickleball while taking a break from their daily work.
Participants said the event offered more than just exercise. It also created opportunities to meet new colleagues, reconnect with friends, and strengthen workplace relationships.
Non-Teaching Employees Association (NTEA) President and Supervisor of Libraries, Chandrani Yves E. Estrada, shared that the event helped her relieve stress while improving her pickleball skills. Having only recently started playing, she said the activity also allowed her to meet new employees and build meaningful friendships across the university.
Many participants highlighted the importance of staying physically active despite busy work schedules. Davekeemark Daming from the BukSU Impasug-ong Satellite Campus, who has been playing pickleball for just three months, said the sport has helped him enjoy a fun and welcoming community. He noted that players do not need advanced skills to enjoy the game, as the experience is more about having fun and connecting with others.
Research Ethics Committee Chairperson and Nursing faculty member Brenda G. Caballero also praised the event, saying it gave employees a chance to relax and meet fellow staff members from across the university. She expressed hope that BukSU would continue organizing similar activities that encourage friendship, teamwork, and employee wellness.
Throughout the afternoon, participants enjoyed friendly rallies, shared laughter, and cheered each other on. The Pickleball Wellness Day highlighted Bukidnon State University's commitment to promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a stronger sense of community among its employees.
