Bohol — The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is continuing its aggressive push for economic resilience, successfully hosting the 2nd Local & Overseas Job Fair on June 30, 2026, in the municipality of Candijay. Under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado, the event served as a high-impact platform to bridge the gap between jobseekers and employers, reinforcing the province’s commitment to decent and quality employment. By bringing opportunities directly to the community, the administration is ensuring that every Boholano has a fair shot at professional success without the need to travel far from their homes.
Strong Partnerships Driving Local Growth
The event’s success was fueled by a robust collaboration between the Bohol Employment and Placement Office – Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO) and a wide array of national government agencies. Agencies including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and key social services like PAG-IBIG and the SSS were present to provide a one-stop-shop experience for all attendees. BEPO-PESO Head Maria Vilma Yorong personally oversaw the event, expressing her gratitude to the LGU of Candijay and the various stakeholders who helped make the fair a seamless and productive experience for the province’s workforce.
Tangible Results for the Boholano Workforce
With 106 local applicants and 83 overseas hopefuls participating, the fair delivered immediate results, recording 30 "hired-on-the-spot" (HOTS) candidates who secured employment before the day even ended. These placements represent a vital injection of economic stability into local families, helping to reduce unemployment and improve the standard of living across Bohol’s municipalities. The consistency of these job fairs—part of a series held throughout 2026—highlights the PGBh’s strategic focus on labor market information and active career facilitation. By providing direct access to recruitment agencies and private employers, the provincial government is effectively streamlining the transition from education to the workforce.
Empowering a UNESCO Global Geopark
This initiative is a cornerstone of the PGBh’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, which envisions a people-centered and resilient future for Bohol as the country's first and only UNESCO Global Geopark. By integrating economic opportunity with sustainable development, the provincial government is working to ensure that its people are the primary beneficiaries of its global stature. As Bohol continues to balance its unique geological heritage with modern progress, the focus remains on building a workforce that is skilled, values-driven, and prepared for both local and international challenges. This commitment to human capital development ensures that Bohol remains a place where professional dreams can be crafted and realized right in the heart of its thriving communities.
