PANGLAW, Bohol – A mixed-use commercial center that caters to different types of needs is slowly forming in the very center of Panglao Island, offering an interesting alternative to the traditional commercial strip along its beaches. Known as Bellemar Lifestyle Center, the commercial area covers four hectares of land and was established by The Bellevue Hotels and Resorts. Built to be a dynamic cultural center that can attract a lot of tourists, the Bellemar Lifestyle Center houses a selection of restaurants, shopping centers, and various facilities. Aside from these, it also have a supermarket and more.
Strategic Location and Design
Found within the locality of Barangay Tawala, the complex is positioned along the main route connecting Panglao International Airport to the popular Alona Beach, The strategic positioning of the site makes it convenient for visitors arriving as well as locals of the island. In contrast to an ordinary closed shopping mall, Bellemar adopts an open-air promenade style, with architecture inspired by Spanish-Filipino colonial design.
Current Tenants and Offerings
The center already hosts several well-known food and beverage outlets, including KFC, Lemon Co., Tamper Coffee & Brunch, Panda Tea Garden, and The Buzzz Café, the latter a brand associated with the Bohol Bee Farm. Retail options include David’s Salon, Feel Korea Mart, and Mango Souvenir and Giftshop.
Robinsons Supermarket on the Way
The most significant one of the intended additions includes the inclusion of Robinsons Supermarket in the development. If successfully done, it will be one of the first major supermarkets in Panglao Island, possibly attracting more customers to the development site, especially those living near the island who had limited access to large grocery options on the island.
Phased Expansion
Bellemar is being developed in multiple phases. The first phase, which includes three buildings, is nearing full occupancy. A Mercado area within this phase will house the supermarket. The second phase will add a food court, currently under construction. Future phases include an indoor activity center and eventually a hotel, transforming the site into a full-service lifestyle hub.
A Shift in Panglao's Investment Landscape
From the perspective of investors, the Bellemar development marks a change in Panglao Island’s business environment. For years, the island had been renowned for its beach resorts and scuba-diving centers, but the introduction of a retail complex marks a change in the investment mood of Bohol.
Awaiting the Supermarket Opening
As of April 2026, no official statement has been made regarding the date at which the Robinsons Supermarket will be opened. However, construction workers have been spotted busily working at the site. Business owners in the community are still optimistic that the supermarket can be operational by the end of the year.
Because of its favorable positioning, methodical growth, and combination of international and domestic brands, Bellemar Lifestyle Center is becoming a key player in Panglao’s emerging economy, catering to both the foreign visitor and the average Boholano.
