TALISAY CITY, CEBU — The thunder of skateboard wheels and the roar of concert crowds transformed this coastal city into a vibrant showcase of Filipino talent on May 31. Converge ICT Solutions brought its XPONENTIAL Tour: Live to the Power of X to Cebu, creating a community-driven stage where skateboarding, music, technology, and creativity collided. The event celebrated momentum in motion, reflecting how local talent can thrive when given the right platform and infrastructure.
Cebu was the natural choice for the tour's first stop. The province has long been a hub of creativity and digital innovation, home to a growing community of creators, gamers, freelancers, and artists. "Cebu is really a great blend of deep culture and digital lifestyle," said Orange Ramirez, VP and Head of Brand and Marketing at Converge. The XPONENTIALS movement is designed to amplify Filipino potential and transform local stories into real-world cultural activations.
Olympic Star and Local Skaters Take the Spotlight
The Skate Xperience competition at Talisay City Skate Park brought together skateboarders and surfskaters from Cebu and neighboring provinces. Olympic skateboarder Margielyn Didal led the event, embodying the campaign's mission of turning potential into reality. "Partnerships like this help athletes extend their impact beyond competitions by giving them a platform to share stories and inspire younger generations," she said.
After hours of intense competition, John Michael Abarca claimed the Men's Open Street Skateboarding championship, while Sarah Laurente captured the women's title. Arnie John Sasil won the Men's Open Surfskate division, and Eunice Manugas emerged victorious in the women's category. The event drew both onsite spectators and online viewers through Converge's connectivity.
A Night of Music and Momentum
As sunset fell, the Music Xperience transformed Aulga Sports Gym into a celebration of local artistry. Cebuano favorites Midnasty and Cookie$ headlined the concert, with crowds singing every lyric to fan favorites like "Pakilig" and "Bisdako." During the concert, the day's skateboarding champions were formally recognized, bringing together sport and music in one unforgettable experience. For Converge, the event demonstrated what happens when infrastructure, opportunity, and talent intersect—potential becomes something much greater.
