LAPU-LAPU CITY — The Cebu Mangoes Festival 2026 is set to transform The Mactan Newtown into a vibrant culinary and cultural hub from May 22 to 31. The 10-day event celebrates Cebu’s world-famous mangoes through a fusion of food events, interactive activities, and sustainability efforts.

A Culinary Celebration of Cebu's Iconic Fruit

Organized in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Lapu-Lapu City government, the festival officially opens on May 22 at the Mactan Newtown Road 4 Event Grounds. Themed “A Sweet Journey,” the event is expected to draw thousands of visitors eager to experience one of Cebu’s most unique food festivals.

A key highlight for food lovers is the month-long Cebu Mangoes Food Festival, which began on May 11 and runs until month’s end. It features a wide array of mango-inspired dishes, desserts, and beverages from numerous specialty stands at the Mactan Alfresco area.

The festival also includes the "Great Mango Harvest," a signature event on May 24 where participants can harvest fresh mangoes from designated areas within the township. This unique activity, rooted in local tradition, promotes a direct appreciation for Cebu's prized agricultural product.

A Platform for Future Chefs and Food Artistry

Adding a competitive edge is the Culinary Showdown, a special competition that puts the spotlight on the next generation of Cebuano culinary talents. Student teams from five local schools and universities are tasked with creating innovative dishes using mango as a key ingredient.

Renowned guest chefs Pao Aviso of Mercure Hotel and Coke Semblante of Savoy Hotel will share their expertise and help inspire the participants. Their presence aims to elevate the competition and encourage young chefs to explore the versatility of Cebuano flavors in both classic and modern creations.

Beyond the kitchen, the festival offers a rich menu of activities. Visitors can witness the Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen pageant on May 24, participate in a Mango Tree Planting activity on May 27, and cheer on contestants in the thrilling Spicy Dried Mango Eating Battle on May 29.

Community, Sustainability, and a Grand Finale

The festival places a strong emphasis on sustainability and community engagement. The Mango Tree Planting activity encourages locals and visitors alike to contribute to preserving Cebu’s agricultural heritage and natural resources for future generations.

On the opening day, visitors can look forward to a grand launch featuring lively cultural performances, including a spectacular mango-themed parade and the sharing of a giant mango halo-halo creation, embodying the festival’s spirit of communal celebration.

The festivities build toward a grand finale on May 31, with a closing celebration that includes the popular "Pets in Mango Costumes" event. This final day promises to be a heartwarming conclusion to a festival that honors both Cebu's prized fruit and the community that cherishes it.
