Bohol — The Bohol Provincial Capitol has officially transitioned back to its standard five-day workweek schedule starting June 1, 2026. Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado signed Executive Order No. 34 to lift the previous four-day arrangement, which was initially implemented as a fuel-saving and energy-conservation measure during a period of global oil price volatility. With international energy markets stabilizing, the province has returned to a regular Monday-to-Friday operational schedule to ensure the full availability of government personnel and improved access to public services.
Stabilization Drives Operational Shift
The decision to return to a five-day workweek comes as global conditions in the energy sector have eased, particularly following the de-escalation of conflicts in the Middle East. Governor Aumentado noted that the factors that originally necessitated the compressed schedule have changed, allowing for a return to normal government operations. This transition is intended to facilitate faster transaction processing and better coordination between various provincial offices and departments. The provincial government expects this change to enhance the overall efficiency of its program implementation and delivery of essential services to the public.
Restoring Access for Boholanos
All provincial officials and employees are now directed to adhere to the standard working hours mandated by Civil Service regulations. This restoration of the workweek is particularly aimed at ensuring that the public has full, uninterrupted access to essential government transactions throughout the traditional work week. The previous four-day scheme, while successful in reducing operational costs during a period of high fuel prices, posed challenges to the speed and availability of government services. By normalizing operations, the province aims to reinforce its commitment to responsive governance and consistent public support.
Looking Forward to Full Productivity
The executive order signifies a return to full-scale operations, allowing for the comprehensive execution of provincial programs and projects. Staff members are now fully available to support ongoing development initiatives that drive the province's economic and social growth. This policy change effectively closes the chapter on the temporary energy-saving measures, signaling a return to pre-crisis operational standards. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to resume utilizing provincial government services under the standard Monday-to-Friday business hours.
