A Temple Closer to Home
Church members in Bacolod and neighboring communities are preparing for the dedication of the Bacolod Philippines Temple, the sixth operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines. For many families, the occasion marks the end of years of long-distance travel to temples in Manila and Cebu. The new temple allows members on Negros Island to participate in worship and family-centered religious ordinances much closer to home, making temple service more accessible for both adults and youth.
A Reflection of Growing Faith
The temple also highlights the continued growth of the Church in the Philippines since missionary efforts expanded in the country during the 1960s. Early Church members in Bacolod helped establish local congregations and supported the spread of the faith throughout the region. Over the years, membership increased steadily, leading to the creation of new stakes, missions, and eventually the construction of a temple that serves thousands of members across Negros and nearby areas.
Strengthening Families and Communities
Local Church leaders and members view the temple as a blessing that will strengthen family relationships and deepen spiritual commitment. Many members have expressed gratitude for having a sacred place of worship within easier reach, allowing them to attend more frequently and participate in religious services without the challenges of lengthy travel. As the temple begins serving the region, members hope it will continue to inspire faith, unity, and community growth for future generations.
